About the Board
The Library Board of Trustees are appointed volunteers with appointees from the Village of Suttons Bay, Suttons Bay Township, and Bingham Township. The Board is tasked with determining the mission and vision of the library, setting policy, directing funds, hiring and evaluating the library director, overseeing the general management of the library, and advocating for the library throughout our service area and the state.
If you are interested in serving on the Board of Trustees, please send a letter of interest with qualifications to board@sbbdl.org. Desired qualifications include familiarity with the Library and its services, and a belief in equal access to materials and services that provide opportunities for educational, informational, cultural and recreational enrichment to all of the people of the communities served by the Library.

Library Millage Information
On August 6, 2024 voters approved a renewal and restoration of the library’s 0.50 operating millage with a 74% approval rating. This is the same tax which was approved by voters in 2016 and 2020. The current millage funds library services through 2028.
2025 Board Meetings, Agendas & Minutes
The Board meets regularly on the third Wednesday of every month at 9:00 am in the Reading Corner in the upper level of the Library, unless listed otherwise. The public is welcome to attend; time for public comment is allotted during regular meetings. The Board can be reached at board@sbbdl.org or by calling 231-271-3512.
